February 2017: A cup of tea and a paperback

February 2017

A cup of tea and a paperback. The perfect combo any time of year, but particularly in late February. It has been warmer lately, but we know that here in Massachusetts Winter and Spring battle it out? share nicely? through April. So whether it's snowing, raining, or even if it feels warm enough to be outside without a coat, we hope you take time to snuggle up with a cup of tea and your favorite paperback book. Here are our book and tea suggestions . . .

I recommend reading Calvin and Hobbes while drinking Sleepytime tea, because I think unwinding with a comic is a great way to relax the mind and end the day.   ~ Tasha

Curl up with Mrs. Queen Takes the Train and a warm cup of Earl Gray tea for a delightful British getaway. ~ Joanne

Read Sarah’s Dessen’s Truth About Forever with lemon tea & honey because she blends some tart situations and characters with a certain sure sweetness of heart. ~ Cathy

An English mystery always goes very well with tea. Try English Breakfast for this  ~ Lindsay

What better way to tackle a dark winter day than to indulge in a Rosamunde Pilcher novel, one with five main characters (and a bevy of minor characters), all of whom end up in Northern Scotland after life-altering events. Such is her latest, Winter Solstice. The plot is not contrived and moves along smoothly, each chapter told from the viewpoint of a different character. And for those of us of a certain age--how nice to see romance blooming between two 60-something characters. You will certainly want to put the kettle on because a "cuppa" is the universal British solution to tension, the cold weather, fatigue, and anything else that ails you--and these characters always turn to their tea. My choice is my favorite, Constant Comment. ~ Mary Fran

Read Trouble is a Friend of Mine while drinking cinnamon tea, because both are sweet, spicy, and have a little bit of a bite to them. ~ Sara

Pair a fresh brewed black tea and The Handmaid's Tale, because both are dark and scalding.~ Emily
