January 2018: Updates, Announcements, and News

January 15-20, 2018

This week at Eight Cousins . . .

If last week was a waiting game, this week has been a whirlwind.

First, your generosity and faith in our book store is overwhelming and heartbreaking (in a good way). We are working diligently on sending out gift cards. It is taking us a bit of time to catch up. Please don't worry if you do not receive yours right away. We are sending them out in batches.

If you were at the Diane Rehm workshop on Monday, you probably saw Mary Fran and Eileen with copies of On My Own. We have a limited number of autographed copies available. See below for details.

We plan to continue working with local organizations on author events.

Upcoming Author Events schedule:

January 27, at 3 pm
Maureen Boyle, author of Shallow Graves at the Falmouth Public Library

February 8 at 1 pm
Tova Mirvis, author of The Book of Separation at the Falmouth Jewish Congregation

February 20 at 2 pm
Richard Thomas, author of Why Bob Dylan Matters at the Museums on the Green

We'd like to send a shout out to Titcomb's Bookshop for helping with books for the first month of the Giving Tree First Library. All 30 books are ready. We decided to feature some of our favorite stories and a group of early childhood specialists selected books that they loved.
Brown Bear, Brown Bear was a favorite of the group. We included staples such as Snowy Day, TenNine, Eight, Everywhere Babies, and
Corduroy, but I'm excited to be introducing readers to fantastic new books like When's My Birthday? as well.

We'd also like to thank the Falmouth Chamber of Commerce for allowing us to use their great space and meeting rooms last week. How wonderful to have such a welcoming resource in our community!

We're working on moving the damaged books out of our space so that the landlord can start repairs to the building. We are temporarily setting up an office space, aka "The Fort," in another location for the next few months.
