Tasha and Lola's Book Corner
Summer is busy here on Cape Cod. As an adult, I expect outings to take longer during the summer months. My 3-year-old, however, does not. To keep my daughter Lola occupied while running errands, I always bring at least one book when we leave the house. I like simple board books because they're compact and easy for Lola to hold while sitting in a car seat or shopping cart, and I like familiar stories that Lola has memorized to some extent because she can "read" independently and I can focus on my task.
Some of our summertime favorites - though not necessarily board books - are Sneakers the Seaside Cat, Down to the Sea with Mr. Magee, and When a Dragon Moves In. I have also seen many new summer books arrive at Eight Cousins, and I am excited to bring Lola in to select some new additions for our collection, both the one at home and the growing library I keep in the car and in my bag for outings. Though I can't say that standing in summer check-out lines is fun, I find them a perfect opportunity to pull out a book and spend a few minutes reading with my child.
