My favorite fantasy series of all time is An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir. I read this book when it came out and it brought me deep into the world of YA fantasy books. This book takes place in a world called the Empire and follows two teenagers. Laia, on a mission to free her brother whom was arrested for treason, poses as a slave and spies at the Empire's military academy for a rebel group in exchange for her brother's freedom. Elias is the military academy's top soldier, but he does not want to live his life as a Mask. Their stories intertwine and together they embark on a journey.
I have so much love for these books and the characters. I am impatiently waiting for the final book in the quartet and I definitely reccomend this series to anyone that loves fantasy or wants to try something new.

I just finished this book and I absolutely loved it! Unusual for me I actually took a longer time reading it because I did not want it to end. I fell in love with the characters, magic system, and the entire story. It had me under a spell. It takes place in 1889 Paris, France. Severin is the descendent of one of the four houses of France, however his power and title was taken from him. Deciding to work with the elite and powerful Order of Babel he goes on a mission to hunt down an ancient artifact in return of his inheritance. In order to do so he gets together the perfect team: Enrique the historian, Zofia the engineer, Tristan the herbalist, and Laila a dancer who has the ability to read forged objects. Together they try to solve the puzzle, discover the secrets of the past, and attempt to stay alive. The Gilded Wolves is a dazzling story with elements of fantasy, history, and mystery. I loved every second and I can't wait for the second book. I definitely reccomend it!
